Eligibility (summary)

  • First-time employees: Individuals joining formal employment & registered with EPFO for the first time on/after 1 Aug 2025 with gross wages ≤ ₹1,00,000/month.

How it works (high level)

  1. Hiring & EPFO registration: Employer hires, ensures EPFO registration & accurate ECR entries for new employees.
  2. Six-month verification: After 6 months of continuous employment, first instalment (where applicable) is eligible; employer may claim their monthly incentive as per rules.
  3. 12-month verification & training: Second instalments/payments subject to 12-month retention and completion of any mandatory financial literacy/training for employees.
  4. Claims & audits: Claims processed via EPFO/implementing portals; audits and compliance checks apply.

Important Dates & Notes

  • Cabinet approval: 1 July 2025 (official Cabinet decision & PIB release)
  • Scheme effective: 01 August 2025 — jobs eligible from this date
  • Scheme end date: 31 July 2027 (for base timeline)
